How Pressure Tanks Work

1. Tanks are pre-pressurized with air at the factory.

2. As water enters the tank, air above the diaphram is compressed and the volume is reduced by the same amount of volume that enters.

3. Water enters and pressure rises until pump cut out is reached. The pump shuts off when the tank is full.

4. Pressure in the air chamber forces water into the system as demanded without the pump running. When the pressure drops to the cut in point the pump starts and the process is repeated again.
